Moving new server/domain - 25-03-2007, 01:05 AM

Hi,

We need to move our Helpdesk from a sub-domain to a new server with a new domain and secured with SSL.

I was thinking of purchasing another licence for the new domain, installing SSL on the domain, restoring all the files from the sub domain and database. And finally changing the paths in the config file.

Is this the correct procedure?

Thanks,
Carl

Hi Carl,

I believe that if your other licence is no longer in use, you can simply request for it to be reassigned to your new location.

Hi Jamie,

I'm not really concerned about the licence, but that's good to know.

It's more of the migrating existing data etc.

Cheers,

I would say yes, that seems to be a sensible plan. I would recommend a "test run" first, and always take backups.

Provided your domain remains the same, the steps would be:

1) Install SSL
2) Upload the same version files of Kayako onto the new server except the setup directory
3) Chmod files and cache to 777
4) Enter the details for the new database under /config/config.php
5) Restore your database using phpMyAdmin or from MySQL CLI
6) If you have currently added files in the "Downloads" section of your helpdesk then you will also need to transfer all files from the files directory from your old server to the new one.

Thanks, but it's a new domain.

Steps would yet remain the same. Just 1 extra step:

1) Change the Product URL in the helpdesk located on your server changing it to use the new domain.
2) Install SSL
3) Upload the same version files of Kayako onto the new server except the setup directory and the new license key in the root directory of the software.
4) Chmod files and cache to 777
5) Enter the details for the new database under /config/config.php
6) Restore your database using phpMyAdmin or from MySQL CLI
7) If you have currently added files in the "Downloads" section of your helpdesk then you will also need to transfer all files from the files directory from your old server to the new one

Cheers - when you say product URL are you referring to the one in the AdminCP?

I recently did a similar move and found the following link useful:

Hi,

I'm currently in the process of moving support suite to another server.

I have explicitly followed the instructions in this thread but when I try browsing to www.domain.com/support (the same directory, but different domain to the old host - with an updated key file) I get the following:

Code:
Invalid SQL: SELECT `vkey`, `data` FROM `swregistry` WHERE `vkey` IN('departmentcache','staffgroupcache','groupsettingcache','languagecache','prioritycache','statuscache','slaplancache','ticketcountcache','ticketlabelcache','labelcountcache','ticketfiltercache','gridcache','commentcache','staffassigncache','groupassigncache','staffcache','tgroupassigncache','settingscache','tgroupcache'); (Table 'welleorg_kayako.swregistry' doesn't exist)
SupportSuite is not installed, Please run setup/index.php to run SupportSuite
I have backed up my Kayako database using PHPmyAdmin and restored it to the new server in the same way, and modified my config.php.

The only thing that is different is the database name: the old one was ausername_kayako whereas the new one is newusername_kayako - would this make any difference?

Thanks!

**EDIT** I am using version 3.10.02 (source and destination)

Hi stevenb,

Please submit a support ticket about this, and they will be able to assist you further.
