Purge (Delete) all comments - 11-08-2008, 08:16 PM

Spam'd like crazy thanks to having no way to turn off comments in the Knowledgebase, etc., how do I purge comments from my database to clear them now that 3.30 has captcha on comments?

P.S. I'd still like the option to disable comments altogether!!!

Hi Neal,

A simple
Code:
delete * from swcommentdata;
delete * from swcomments;
should do the trick.

How do I get the "count" to go away? I'd disabled commenting long ago, but it still shows the number of comments as it was when I removed them from the DB. Is that taken from the auto-increment field for one of those two tables?

You mean the count displayed in the Staff CP?

Yes, that one. I find it kind of annoying.
Comments (39) <- make that vanish, since there are no comments at all.

Hi bear,

Try clear out all of the .js files inside of your /files/ and /cache/ folders.

Done, no change. The file in cache that contains it is 'staffcpmenuclick.js'. Removed it (as well as all cached pages), reloaded staffcp...it's back, as is the comment count. Any idea where it's getting this number from?
The two tables related to KB comments are autoincrement, and have no content (truncated). I tried adding a comment, it set the count to 1. Deleted, emptied cache, still 39.
Like I mentioned, frustrating.

Same here, ran the SQL to purge the nonsense, how do I get my toolbar counters to reset? It's not the cache!

Please try and run: /staff/index.php?_ca=rebuildcache

The numbers may have been cached in the database (swregistry). This command should refresh it.

No change. Rather than hunting and pecking, tell me exactly where the information comes from, i.e. RESEARCH with your developers, and then offer a solution.

Thank you.

Please submit a support ticket and one of our technicians will investigate why the cached comment count isn't being rebuilt.
