Remove Ban & Delete function? - 18-05-2007, 02:38 AM

Our staff constantly are banning important email addresses. Always are domain addresses. We seriously need a way to remove the 'Ban & Delete' option. Is this possible? If not, is there some way to set a rule to unban our our domain-specific emails?

Hi Sab,

In Dashboard » Staff » Manage Teams > Click on the team name you wish to take this ability away from

Under the tickets section:

Can Delete Ticket - set to no.

That's it. Took me a while to find this the first time also.

None of the team members on that team will be able to bad or delete.

Cheers,

Rich

Features I need asap:
1) Ticket search in the client portal!
2) Column display in client portal showing clients email address or name
3) Downloads by client
(i.e. - each client has their own download area and can't see/touch downloads for any other client.) This would be on top of a "public" download area.
4) Integrated KB image uploads
The ability for staff to upload images with a KB articles.
Cheers!

Hey thanks for the tip. I didn't know that was there.

But, my staff need the ability to delete, just not the ability to "Ban & Delete"

Any ideas? It is bad when your staff constantly ban your sales@domain.com email address, even though you ask them not to use the ban function. The simplist thing would to remove only the "Ban & Delete" option since there is already a Delete-only option.

You could remove it from the templates.

Step 1:
themes/admin_default/main.js

Comment out line 2385 by adding // to the start, as below:
Code:
// {code:swphrases['bandelete'], "format":{"image":themepath+"menu_bandelete.gif", "oimage":themepath+"menu_bandelete.gif", "imgsize":[20,22]}, url:"index.php?_m=tickets&_a=ticketactions&ticketid="+swticketid+"&action=options&type=bandelete"},
Step 2:
/modules/tickets/functions_ticketsui.php

Find near line 902:
Code:
    <option value="bandelete">'. $_SWIFT["language"]["bandelete"] .'</option>';
Add HTML comments to stop the function from being displayed:
Code:
    <!-- <option value="bandelete">'. $_SWIFT["language"]["bandelete"] .'</option> -->';

Great! Works as stated. Would be nice to have this as an option to turn off.

Was I right in edited the files directly? I couldn't find a way to edit in Admin under Templates. Also, I didn't go to templates and click Update, wasn't sure about that.

Correct, admin and staff templates are stored in flat files.

Regarding my suggested fix, I had thought it stopped the bans, it doesn't, it only stops the deletes (as I found out after staff had banned a client)

Since there is no permission for ban, and none on the near horizon (that I am aware of) Jamie's hack to the files is the only way to stop this for now. Unfortunately it removes this function completely (better that I suppose than banning clients)
