Turn off User Registration - 10-10-2005, 03:40 PM

I'm looking around for this answer and I'm not sure it's a simple one. I don't want my users to have to register to submit tickets. I have that fixed. But I'm wondering if there is a way to not even show that on there.

Is there a way to turn that off and allow the auto-reply email to automatically link to the ticket? I'm finding that when I click on a link (probably because of cache or cookies) that I quite often get an error that I don't have permission to log in. Then once I put in my email and password, I'm in. But this will be confusing for my customers. They're not technical customers. I run an ecommerce business and I use tickets to keep up with customer inquiries and shipping problems.

I think I stumbled on my own answer. I turned it off.

Now I just have to figure out how to send an email to our vendor (3rd party) and have the reply update the ticket. I've not had success so far so if anyone has tips let me know!

Oh wait. . . arghhh. . . I didn't turn it off after all.

It was just closed up. If anyone knows how to turn off that module or template let me know.

Thanks,

It's an option in the Staff CP. Go to Users > Manage Groups > Users and turn off "Can View Register Widget."

But if you disable the login section, how could they come back and login to see their ticket since there is no automatic link anymore?

Are these the steps for version 3?

How do I "Go to Users" on here? Sorry if I sound dense but I don't see this.

I see Settings>User Registration (but that doesn't do it)

They get an email that has a password on it, so when they click on the link they still have to type in an email and their password to get in. I wish there was a way to just have them not require a password.

Back to playing!

Hi

Has anyone received an answer to this yet? Is it possible to completely disable user registration/authentication?

To provide an answer the question of 'why' we want to do this: we have another mechanism that handles user authentication/session tracking/access control on a global scope for our website.

Anyone else in a similar circumstance?

I just tried disabling the user registration box on the latest CVS version (03 Nov) by going to the Staff CP, Select Users > Manage Groups, click on the Guest and on the Registered users and turn off "Can View Register Widget." for both of them but the registration box is still shown.

Any ideas? Am I doing the correct thing?

Thanks,
Steven

Any luck with this yet? I'd like to disable the user registration, too.

No luck yet. I already saw some customization examples without the user registration module so I don't know if it's simply removed from the templates or if there's another way to do it.

I have asked Kayako support for exactly the same feature, but they answered that it is not available in standard v.3 and they have refused to add this feature there.

IMHO it is a really stupid decision because as you wrote - the username and password are already included in the reply e-mail, so auto-login by ticket-link-click would be easy way to do.

However - if you buy Owned version, you get almost full source code and according to the Kayako support it should be easy to tweak it to get this function working.

Since I am not the only one requesting this function, I think they should reconsider their refusal and put it into standard release.

I do suggest that if there is more people requiring this function, then we should coordinate some "e-mail request attack to support" ;-) to push them a little bit.

Regards

Tomas

I agree, all this logging in is just confusing our customers.
