Hello Craig,

Do you know where can I find more information about the API?

Best

The API isn't built yet. It is due to be built with V4. I am simply suggesting commands that should be included.

I haven't really read about V4 yet on the forums, so I'm probably asking something old now, but is there any due time for V4 at the moment or is it just 'sit back and wait'?

Very odd. Kayako said they had an api ready a year ago and was just getting things finalized and documented. Looks like they promised and didnt deliver again, as usual.

As far as API commands, while having an API is nice, i see no immediate need for API functions that can easily be duplicated by querying the DB. Unfortunately Kayako makes create creation quite overcomplicated. Would be nice if they created this ability ASAP.

As I said earlier, the API development has been put on hold due to other things taking priority - such as the upcoming roadmaps.

I agree, an API would be really useful to help extend capabilities of the product since major feature additions and problem fixes seem to be really slow to be released.

Also an API would make Kayako custom modifications or custom modules easier to maintain and support. Using an API we can reduce the footprint on Kayako original source files, this will allow modified Kayako users to upgrade freely without the constant fear of losing their modifications.

Looking forward to seeing this API working...

P.S.: If you go to the Admin CP-->Settings-->General there is a section called: "API Settings", what it this section for? Does it actually do something?

As far as I am aware, Mahesh was working on the API up until when he left Kayako. At this point it was decided to suspend development on it until V4. The settings for it have been left however so development can resume when working on V4.

There is another thread about this here:

http://forums.kayako.com/f63/api-commands-16190/

Are there any more updates about an API? I am still looking forward to having access to an API.

Hi jgodfrey,

An extensive and documented API will be coming in Version 4. There is a basic third-party API here, until then: Integration API [FREE - EXTERNAL LINK]

It isn't basic - it is simply built for integration Jamie...
