E-Mail Log - 28-05-2008, 09:44 AM

As the title says, a log of all outgoing mail should be possible but disabled by default and enabled via the settings area.

This would be handy for tracing issues.

Logs already exist - your sendmail logs on your server (if you use sendmail) or your SMTP server logs. These are actually much more informative, as they will log failures - all a SupportSuite-based log will do is log every time the mail function was called; it won't help with debugging.

While this is true, it would still be nice for this feature and I am sure others will agree.

I am just trying to filter the "nice" from what has practical use I think people who want this log may be misguided as to exactly how much debugging information they can derive from a 'trigger' log (not a send log) in SupportSuite.

It would have a practical use. It would say which mails Kayako has sent and if they were successfully or unsuccessfully passed to the sending mail server.

Hi think I would tend to agree, but I would be after knowing if the system has indeed tried to send the mail. It helps in the fault finding process.

On a similar subject, I have just enabled the SMTP for my Exchange 2003 server. Is there a way for the system to tell me if it is able to communicate using this configuration. ie, the ability to send a tes message so you know it works.
