You will need to upload the file onto your server and add a download link in the KB article using the HTML tags.

Hi and thanks for your response.

When I upload a file for inclusion in the Downloads section, Support Suite seems to place it in a folder called Files, but gives it some obsure file name.

I can see how to enter a link in the Knowledgeb ase, but I cant see how to work out which file is the correct name in the Files folder.

Does this make sense?

Alex

When you upload the files in the Downloads section, Kayako hashes it. You cannot add a direct link to that file. From what I meant, you will have to manually upload the file onto your server and link it in the KB article.

I would love to see a feature where by you could link to internal pages, other knowledge base articles and downloads using a button on the WYSIWYG editor and it allows you to browse through the categories. Would make life much easier.

There's only one way to this in current version. Every Download has it's own ID. A dl-link looks like

Code:
https://yourdomain.tld/index.php?_m=downloads&_a=downloadfile&downloaditemid=[ItemID]
Use, for example

Code:
<a href="/index.php?_m=downloads&_a=downloadfile&downloaditemid=[ItemID]">my Download</a>
Clicking this link will instantly present your visitor with the Download.

That's not a perfect, but a working solution. Hope that helps.

Remember, that your visitors will be able to dl even files, marked as "internal" in the backend by just playing around with different IDs!
