Lightbulb Login as another user (administrator option) - 19-02-2008, 04:44 PM

Hello,

When setting up a new user in our system it would be nice to configure help desk preferences for them, such as status on replies, etc. In some web based systems they offer a "login as this user" type of link that opens a new window and allows you to login as them. This would be easier than having them dig into the system to find the preferences our company has set as a standard for ticket handling. It's overwhelming enough for a new user coming into a new job, the more we can configure for them the easier it is for them to get started.

The idea is a good one, but I think what would be a better idea is to simply allow an administrator to configure a staff's preferences via the usual options page.

Your idea would be particularly useful for testing out permissions etc; the security concious never trust permissions sets until they see it with their own eyes!

I may be wrong but I am sure I remember this from a past thread. AWBS allows it and call it Sudo User Mode.

Anyway, +1 on this from me. I also like to test something inside out before deploying it, especially for security.

+1 for me as well,

I am always testing the other users to see the issues they have or what I have configured their group to do.
