Actually you can do this right now, just create a ticket alert and configure it to send a notification via email to the staff user email. Then configure your gmail account to check emails from the POP/IMAP account of that staff user and that should be it. Not possible if your using Jabber as an internal communication tool. I would like to see alert rules like there is now with the ability to send messages to all the messenger gateways.
