Exclamation Themes -> Dedicated themepath for templates - 18-10-2007, 01:19 PM

I am kinda surprised this hasn't been put into a request before. As a new eSupport Owner I started to work on integrating the look and feel with rest of my site and very soon I ran into this problem. Searching the forums I found a lot of complains about lack of this functionality but no comment on it from kayako. It's said the templates are fully customizable but that's not true if you can't set dedicated images to each template group.

Well you can but ALL images will have to go into the same folder "client_default" (unless you change the one instance setting it in config.php), but this gets messy if you have more then a few groups and is not very practical as you probably will like to keep image names having same function in different templates/themes.

So I request this feature to be implemented asap as it will only benefit us all. It could be done as simple as if not assigned the default is used, but when you create a new template group you should also have an option to set a specific folder under themes and possibly an option to copy the default folder there.

I can't see this would be hard to do in anyway although it might demand a change to the db scheme, adding a field or table depending on how it's done. This is a much needed function!

A work around would be to use language phrases extensively in all templates that is what we do for our customization work and skins where we do not replace a single image provided by Kayako. Although an optional feature which would allow to set this from the software interface would certainly make things much simpler!

Exactly, this is a main flaw of the software, which is a petty as it otherwise is sooo goood!

I am sure the developers will consider this request for v4.

Seems like a very useful function.

We run support for a multinational financial services company, and will probably have a need to customize the client-facing graphics for each geographical location.

Is it possible to include simple php tags in the templates?

E.g. could you insert <? $_SWIFT["clienttheme"] = "myTheme"; ?> in your header template?

If so, it seems to me that would solve the problem. Just make client_myTheme folder, throw your css and image files in there and you're good to go.
