Warn user before navigating away from reply tab - 22-02-2007, 04:54 PM

If a reply has been started but a user navigates away from the tab then the text that they entered is lost. If a reply has been started and a user tries to navigate away from the reply then SupportSuite should warn the user with a JavaScript popup to confirm their intention. This would prevent the loss of reply text, especially for new users (who might be evaluating for purchase even).

Seeing a long reply disappear when simply gong from one tab to another is very frustrating.

Yay or nay.

I have never experienced the loss of text when switching between tabs, the text is stored.

Here's clarification of the problem:

Select any ticket
Click Post Reply
type something in the reply box
Click Edit
Click browser back button, should go to Reply... but goes back to Ticket List and text is lost.

I have no problem with the above functionality but a JavaScript warning would be nice.

Why would you click the browser back button? Click the Post reply tab and your text is still there.

Even if you do click the back button by mistake, click the browser "Forward button" and your text is still there in Post reply.

We have that problem sometimes - often we are looking up info and some programs open up an html page in an existing window (very annoying) which can overwrite your reply page. Also some of our staff use google toolbar that is set to open a new window - of course this is only a couple of pixels click from a link on the link bar - and a loss of your reply

I think this should be made configurable - not everyone will want this.
