Unhappy Antivirus spam redirect from inside staff panel - 14-11-2008, 08:15 PM

Some links inside the staff panel take me to a page warning me about spyware. I get a javascript popup and then am immediately redirected here: [John removed this link]

It doesn't ever seem to be the same link. This time I went to the Escalations tab on the left side and when I clicked 'insert new rule' it did this. When I went back and did it again it did not.

Is this a bug or something on my server? How can I figure out what is going on?

Thanks,
Blair

Hi Blair,

This isn't anything to do with our software.

It could be something on your computer (malware such as spyware or a hosts hijacker), on your web server or your Internet service provider. I would start by doing a thorough malware scan (using anti-virus and anti-spyware software [I recommend AVG - it is free]), and also get in touch with your web host about it.

This is almost certainly your local machine being hacked. I am removing the link you placed because it may lead to other people's machines being hacked.

No problems at all. You were looking for help with a difficult situation. It's appropriate for you to contact the vendor for clarification.

I'm sorry you're going through such a thing.
