Exclamation Moving into a new server - 13-09-2006, 05:39 PM

I actually reached the max user connections limit of Mysql and i am thinking on moving my kayako suite into a new server. What should i be aware of before doing this big move? i dont want to forget anything.

Thanks!

1) Make a backup of your MySQL Database on old server.
2) Restore Backup of MySQL on New Server.
3) Copy SupportSuite files to new server. edit /config/config.php with the new MySQL Database info.

4) Test and make sure everything works before you delete off of old server.

Make sure your new server meets all software requirements

cant i leave all the help desk info in the old server and just modify the config.php file to point the SQL address to the new server?

Thanks a lot for both answers!

That should work provided your existing MySQL db is remotely accessible. having said that it will not solve the "max user connections limit" issue you originally had. The error had nothing to do with the software but your server.

It's fine but having a remote Mysql server can slow down processing, especially if it's on a different network. So just check with your host before trying this
