RSS and expired news - 29-01-2008, 04:02 PM

I'm using the RSS feed to populate a box on my main site with news articles. This works for the most part, with one glaring exception. If I set an article to expire, the headline remains visible in the feed, but when you click the link to read more, it brings you to a completely blank page in Kayako. This obviously will make people think my site is broken, and they feel obligated to let me know. Frequently.

So, is there a fix, other than manually removing "dead" news articles completely, to get the RSS feed to show only active, non-expired articles? Failing that, is there a way to force a "no article by that name" view in the main window or something? A totally blank page simply makes me look bad.

Hi bear,

I'd consider this a bug - so will add it to the tracker once it is brought back online.

Any news on this?
I just setup a newsfeed within our desktop app and expired news items are appearing. They do not appear in the news section of the customer site but do when retrieved via RSS. There is no expiry date or expired flag included in the XML either so i cannot filter it myself.

Surely this isn't very hard to fix? Its been known about by Kayako since October 2005!
see previous thread --> http://forums.kayako.com/f56/news-expiry-5295/

also, the search on the bug tracker is terrible! The only way i was able to find anything was to enter the exact title or ID. That can't really be called searching.

According to Kayako Bug Tracker - Viewing Issue #257 - Expired News Items are listed in RSS feed it has been fixed. I suggest you upgrade to the latest stable build (3.20.02) and try it with that.

Kayako Bug Tracker - Viewing Issue #502 - If I set an article to expire, the headline remains visible in the RSS feed

It will be fixed before the next release. Apologies, this slipped through the net.

Isn't that the same issue that has already been marked as fixed though (diff bug report)?

No, it has not been marked as fixed yet and has been targeted for 3.20.03. You can see this information in the tracker entries: Kayako Bug Tracker - Viewing Issue #502 - If I set an article to expire, the headline remains visible in the RSS feed
