Glad you saw that underlying sentiment in my post

Yup, I don't miss much

I never purchased an iPod for similar reasons. Got myself a Zune which totally beats the iPod on so many levels. iTunes is my biggest hate about it. It is a VERY poor port from Mac to Windows.

The reason so many people have them is because a fashion trend was started. Everybody was like "ooo, must get an iPod / iPhone because everybody else has one...".

The iPhone is a waste of time because what is the point if it doesn't have 3G...

And MMS.. and multiple delete.. and a good camera.. and a decent Bluetooth implementation.. and DUN.. and a solid developer community.. and a more secure operating system.

And.. I'll split the posts from the original feature request thread because it was going a bit off topic, and every forum needs a iPhone vs. World thread

but unlike 98% of all other phones on the market the iPhone is upgradeable and they actually come out with upgrades often. So can add MMS, Multiple Delete, when they release the SDK Kit in February they will have a solid developer community and sorry but Mac OS is one of the most secure operating systems out there alot more secure then Windows

Windows = over 150,000 known viruses
Mac OS = 0 known viruses

Yes I agree that the iPhone is over hyped but not as bad as you all make it seem I for one like it.. no really for business atleast in its current state but after they upgrade the software and add all the feature everyone wants and come out with the 3G model next year it will be a awesome phone...

So to you all that don't like it :P :P :P :P :P :P :P :P :P :P :P :P :P :P :P

first I've ever heard of this so called OSX/Leap-A virus and even so 1 virus compared to over 150,000 is still better. and its only distributed via iChat which I don't use so I am fine for now.

The reason hardly any virus' are written for Macs is the usage is so small so whats the point!

The list goes on but I don't want to get RSI repeating myself! lol

That's actually 2 separate links, Steve, and the second one has more. The new VBSeo addon makes it look like it might be part of the same link.

Like craig said, the only reason there are less viruses written for Mac is simple market share, not because it's actually more secure. Virus writers like to be able to hit the most computers possible so it can spread, and MS has the lion's share of that market, making it a larger target. If Mac ever gained more than half the market share, you'd see a huge upswing in viruses written for it, I have no doubt.

That is true. You must not forget that there are differences between viruses and exploits - most viruses propagate due to user unawareness (or some may call ignorance); there are relatively few viruses that propagate due to exploits alone.

Talking about exploits, though; hasn't the iPhone's security design already been exploited allowing attackers full remote access?

I read this too. There are apparently two ways an attacker can gain access now...

wow.. the device has only been out less than six months and already bashing the iPhone capabilities. I'm not expecting Apple to be perfect, however, I do expect a quick and effective response to what the market wants. Which Apple has done.

I have owned and used a Windows Mobile device for years and design website on a Windows Platform. I retrained from purchasing an anything from Apple for years until this year (2007).

I have purchase an iPod then an iPhone both were the best technology purchase I've made in years. I've had ZERO problems with iTunes running on XP or Vista. I no longer use my Windows Mobile, mainly because of the smooth integration between the email client to the Safari browser, the phone dialer, and Google Maps on my iPhone. Yes, it has it's flaws like the absents of copy and paste, but I'm sure it will be addressed in future firmware updates.

When large companies look Fox, CNN, Intuit, and other create iPhone versions of their websites to position themselves from the iPhone and iPod Touch explosion.

I can't imagine Kayako would not at least be open to the idea of making an iPhone version of their web support ticketing panel.
