Incomming call pops up contact information - 12-02-2008, 11:06 PM

We currently use SugarCRM for all of our users contact information, and we have moved over to Kayako for trouble tickets. One of the features that we are use to is when a customers calls us, it pops up on our screen their contact information in Sugar. It does that by going to a simple URL with a GET value of their phone number, which searches the contacts phone numbers, and pulls up the matching one.

What we would like is a very simple page that let us do something similar.

(From an outsiders perspective)
1 new page:
A page that takes a GET value of a phone number, searches the contacts database, and displays either the found contact, or Insert a new contact page.

1 modified page:
Once you find that contact, I need a REALLY easy way to add a new ticket for that contact. So when I am lookin at that contacts page, and it has "tickets" up there at the top, I need to be able to click "Open New Ticket" and start the opening process.

Thats it, as far as I can see. Let me know if you are interested.

Ya know what... Before I open my mouth next time, perhaps I should crack the code, and see how hard it is going to be to make something like this.

I started tinkering around with the code, and in about 10 minutes, I have exactly what I need. Thanks anyways.

Is this something easy for a beginner user to do? I am working with an owned version of Esupport that is being run on a seperate server which is being hosted by our webhosting company?
I am looking to have a way to click a 'create a ticket' type button on the Contacts page once you have opened a specific contact open.

Thanks in advance,

Aaron

That is exactly what I hacked into place that night. When a caller calls in, it opens up a page that looks like this:

http://support.page.com/staff/index....aller_number%%

the %%caller_number%% is replaced by who is calling, and at that time, Kayako searches its contact list to find customers with that phone number in any of their phone numbers. If it finds them, you can click on create ticket, if they are not in there, it takes you to the "fill in this information" page, so we can get that contact into our system.

More then a few people have asked me for this, but I do not remember what I did to hack this in place, and I do not have the original files anymore, to diff them. I remember that it did not take very long, like maybe 15 - 30 minutes total to get it all done, but again, I do not have the original files to start over.

When they come out with the next version, and I have to do this again, I will make a walk through of everything that I had to change to put it in place, and I will post that up here.

does it still work for you? - 22-04-2008, 11:53 PM

So are you still using this method? Do you have a 'create ticket' button when inside a contacts info that sort of populates their info for Name email address and phone #?
Please do post it here when you have to dig into it again.
Do you know when they are releasing V4?

Thanks again,

PS there are still people here reading the forums! Don't forget about us!

Yes, if it finds the contact, it will populate the ticket information that it can, i.e. name and email.

I have no idea when they are coming out with v4, I wish I did, but I do not.

I have not forgotten about anyone on here, or the requests that you all have made, I just have not had time to get back to this problem, and the version I have is working fine. Sorry...
