Angry Kayako Licensing ** MUST READ** - 22-02-2007, 12:21 AM

Will like to get other peoples opinion on my experience with Kayako.

Unfortunately I only bought a one year lease which expired about 2 weeks ago. Kayako will not upgrade me to a full license because it has already expired.

I contacted sales and they have refused to upgrade my license or give me credit for the amount I already paid for the software. In retrospect, the difference wasn't that much and I should have just bought the full.

From a business standpoint, if a customer is coming back to you to upgrade their license, doesn't that show that they want to product?

Basically they want me to pay again for the license. I think this is unfair and almost criminal. Other competitors are not doing this. I was on cerberus a while back and until today, they still give me credit for using their software although it has now expired.

kayako is great, but some of their people lack common sense.

Please let me know your thoughts. Perhaps am just an angry user and too cheap to want to shell out another $300-$400 for the full product

Thanks all

almost anywhere you go this is how it is.. If your licenses expired your license expired... Its your responsability to get what you want done before it expires.. thats like buying a car and purchase the extended warranty and it expires and you now wanna trade in the car but still get credit for the extended warranty that is already expired... Just not gonna happen...

I can understand because it's a leased license, and you're not "upgrading" since it's expired. Basically, you used the scripts for a full year, and then want that year's credit off a fully owned license?
If it were my company I'd probably consider offering a small discount based on being a preexisting customer, but understand why they didn't. I would not consider discounting by the full leased cost, however.

Just my opinion.

I agree with bear I would give you some sort of discount for being an existing company but would only be like $15-$25 not like the cost of the yearly license so not like no $200..
