Exclamation kayako, upgrade this forum to VB 3.6.4 - 24-02-2007, 11:57 PM

I few friends of mine who were running earlier versions(earlier than 3.6.4) of vbulletin were hacked....apparently as I have been reading there are numerous vulnerabilities with previous versions...i just upgraded mine...

why not upgrade it? It takes minutes.

Picking up the pieces after a hack is not fun as im sure you guys know

The version number listed doesn't mean they haven't installed the patches.
If they haven't...I just don't want to think about the result.

This was suggest many times with no real response from them ...

I run many boards and these updates are very important to the stability and security of the board....

Maybe their license is expired and they don't want to renew it.
Admittedly, I'm always flabergasted to see how software development companies seem the least concerned with their own tools and the image their lack of attention generates. Admittedly, one need not always upgrade. Older versions sometimes work perfectly, but it's still -- in addition to security issues -- always nice to know they're on top of things. I run four vBulletin licenses and they are all updated. (actually, one is still in 3.6.3 but patched )

Note: When there is a security hole even if your license support/upgrades is expired vbulletin still sends you patch and instructions on how to fix your current version... So just because Kayako hasn't upgraded their version of vbulletin doesn't mean they have not patched it...

I've tried several times now to post, and every time I do, the board shows as shut off to me and it doesnt' go through. I'll try once more.

It would be really great if they also enabled "Infractions", with a high score to ban spammers for good with a single click. I've used this on my board, and it's really handy

[EDIT] Cool, it worked this time.

Either the server or software time settings are incorrect. The time is offset by 45-50 minutes. Probably someone from Kayako or either of the Moderators can have a look at it.

The forums were moved to a different server and upgraded resulting in a DNS update. The old server still has the old version setup but disabled.

Nope, that will be delayed with the stoppage to upgrade the forums.
