Small forum rearrangement - 18-05-2007, 11:10 PM

Hi everyone,

The Modifications & Addon Releases forum has been moved out of the Modifications & Development forum, and has been brought to the 'front' (it is no longer a sub-forum).

The Modifications & Development forum has been renamed to the Developer's Forum.

These changes reflect our steps to encourage the building of an active developers community here on the forums. There will be more content features and contributions from staff as well as community members in this respect.

Thanks,

Jamie Edwards (jamie.edwards ]at[ kayako.com)

As per user request, I have also displayed the subforums for each forum on the Forum Home page.

Just a quick one Jamie.

The link to the developer forum from the main Kayako home page no longer links correctly.

Thanks aquiss - I'll ask the web developer to update it.

The new front page is great! Just from a glance I can tell where the new posts are and link directly to them!

Much much better!

Thanks!

Hey Jamie, one other question.

I'm trying to modify my signature to comply with the new rule of not advertising any service or product on the forum. I have 5 lines using the WYSIWYG editor on the forum. When I try to past or submit, I get an error that tells me my signature is too long and must be less than 5 lines. I tried taking one of the lines out so it only had 4 and received the same error. So it won't let me update or submit the change.

You are using the features in the WYSIWYG editor for your signature. How are you getting it to allow your signature under the new rules?

Eddie

Hi Eddie,

To clarify the rule:
Quote:
* You can advertise your business in your signature unless deemed inappropriate by a Kayako staff member or community moderator, at their discretion.
You cannot list pricing plans, however.

I will take a look at the signature rules we have in place and see if there is a mistake.

The signature rule in place in vBulletin is set to 5 lines. This includes blank lines too.

Staff and administrator signatures can be longer than this, however (as they list links that will be useful to users).

Yep, that's the line I was trying to edit. And after reducing it to 4 lines I can not save the change.

Hi Eddie,

When editing, switch to the non-WYSIWYG editor (top-right icon when editing a post or signature). This will show you clearly how many lines you are using. I believe it is because you have lines taken up by only formatting controls, which does in fact count as a line.
