missing logo when starting setup.php - 19-06-2008, 08:05 PM

I am prototyping an installation on a Windows 2003 Server, using IIS 6, Internet Explorer 7, 'current' versions of MySQL, PHP, and Zend. I've already made 'lots' of rookie mistakes - triggering the 'missing Zend' messages, unable to display any php web page, etc...

I am now able to bring up the main 'setup menu' (setup/index.php), with two exceptions, both involving PHP function calls:

1. No logo displays at the top of the screen.
2. The copyright notice displays "2001- Kayako Infotech Ltd." The current year (2008) is missing.

When I try to proceed and click on the Setup Link, I receive a 'friendly' HTTP 500 error message: 'The website cannot display the page'. If I turn 'friendly messages' off, I receive a blank screen.

Any hints on what to do, what error logs to check, what I've missed, or what needs to be updated or fixed? It's taken me 4 days to get to this point.

All advice welcome. TIA!

Steve

OK... I had a bad setting in php.ini - so now the functions work. However, we still cannot get any good results when we go from the index.php page to any other page in the setup directory - something to do with zend, perhaps? perhaps with browser settings? We've been trying to achieve anything, using both IE and firefox 3. 12 hrs today and counting....

Hi Steve

Sounds like you were where I was about 48 hours ago. It's been an eventful week but stick with it - it's satisfying when you start to clock on how each component fits together. I too have this week got exactly the same config working on win2k3 with latest PHP, Zend, MySQL.

You soon start to cotton on to whether the issue is related to whichever component.

What actually happens when you try to load up the setup/index.php? I found a few things like "no input file selected" was a php.ini error, a 404 was IIS (usually PHP ISAPI setup in the website properies).

Are you hosting it yourself, or on a remote server somewhere?

Cheers

I'm getting an ambiguous HTTP 500 error message - unable to load. It seems that there's a problem with the zend part of the configuration - from the main setup menu i cannot open any of the zend-embedded .php files. No log entries that I can find, no clues anywhere as to what could be wrong.

Everything is being run on the same, local box - we are prototyping a move from one server to another, but the software on the box has been updated, so all we will be doing is porting the database content over once the new box is ready and we can show that it's working.

Hence my plea for hints on what to look at. At this point, we've verified the ftp of the kayako files (binary, not ascii, transfer), and we have confirmed that we have a good copy of the zend optimizer install files; since php is now working with the correct functional settings in the php.ini file, we've crossed that off the list. Near as we can tell, we are including only the correct libraries, but it is possible we're still missing an entry in the .ini file. Otherwise, I'm totally at sea on this.

Sounds to me more like an IIS issue than anything else. You've ensured the PHP is showing as "UP" under the ISAPI tab? And that under the Home Directory tab, under the configuration button - PHP is listed as an application extension?

And you've enabled read, execute and script execute permissions?

Steve,

I'm having the same problem as you. My logo comes up and no missing 2008.
But i will hit the 'friendly' 500 error when i got to setup.

My guess is IIS. I'll contiune to post if i get any leads.

Cheers!

Steve,

I'm having the exact same issue as you - missing logo and '2008'. I'm also running Win 2k3, II6, PHP5, Zend, etc and then I get the 500 error.

Have you had any more luck yet?

David

FIX - "Please make sure value of "short_open_tag = On" in your php.ini and if it's not, please make the required changes and restart your WebServer."

This worked for me, so hope it helps!
