Cool Moved server, but unexpected issue - help! - 08-02-2009, 05:21 PM

Hi,

I have moved esupport from a dedicated server to a new one. I did this by:

1) Backing up the db
2) Copying all the web files over
3) Restoring the db.

I then updated the URL in the settings (I have already had support add an additional URL) and I can log in etc

However two issues, I guess they are related:

1) When I create a new ticket (send email) after pressing send it goes to a blank page.

2) When clicking on the folders "open", "closed" etc it doesn't show any tickets even though there are open tickets within?

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks

It sounds very much like your new server isn't compiled with mbstring. Create a phpinfo file to check and if it isn't, recompile PHP with mbstring to get it to work.

Ah adding mbstring seemed to have fixed it - thank you!

Everything looks to be working well except:

"Error: Failed to delete parser lock file (./files/parser.lockfile); error: errno"

I have given /files READ & WRITE permissions (Its a windows server). Is there anything else I need to do?

Your welcome.

For anyone else coming across this thread with the second issue, the key is to CHMOD the files and cache folders and everything inside to 777. Commands you can run to make this easier are :-
chmod -R 777 cache
chmod -R 777 files

To be clear, is this necessary to do this (chmod) for Windows systems as well? I thought that for Windows, all you had to do was give read/write access to these directories via NTFS permissions.

Thank you.

CHMOD is a LINUX command, you have it right for Windows.

n8: the ntfs permissions are the windows equivalent of the unix chmod. In concept they're the same thing; it's a VHS and Betamax kind of thing. (Should I be saying blu-ray vs hd-dvd thing now?)

VHS, Betamax... oh the memories :-)

Thanks for the info. I thought so but I just wanted to be sure.
