Yeah, we have 7, and we have tried to put it all into one helpdesk, and because of the group= needed everywhere just to make it work, I would say the solution sucks. We bought it for this very issue.

Gawd, how sick of Kayako's glaring problems can I be.

So, Cerebus handled this perfectly? I bet they would be more than happy to help us expand to 20 satellite help desks we are under contract for (one per client per group).

ARGHHHHHHHHHHHHH!

ehoffman,

I am afraid that the only solution to multi domaining is what has already been discussed in the thread - the software (and the licensing system) is not ready for fully deployable satellite help desks.

I will talk to the developers about this and see if there are any plans for this in Version 4.

And yet its in your sales pitches.

Once again, Kayako should hang their heads in shame for their deliberate deception of consumers.

I am sorry to hear that you have been misinformed. Could you please e-mail me (address in my signature) further details about this?

Thank you,

I'm trying to figure out the problem here. Although I would like to remove the "group" option we have it working well.

and

http://www.hostfrog.com/support/inde...group=HostFrog (I haven't setup the mod_rewrite in the .htaccess for this one yet).

I have also been battling with creating separate language versions using the so called satellite setup. However it does not work as described. Does anyone know of another helpdesk solution that allows mutlidomain, multilingual support in one helpdesk. Or is the best method to have many domains?

Sorry :( - 10-01-2008, 01:56 AM

I believe I am going to ask for a refund because Kayako does not support multidomain.

We have a lot of domains and we wanted only one install with only 4-5 staff.
I am not going to even try thinking doing administration for 40-50 staff users just because we have 10 domains pointing to the same software.
And it is the same software because it will point to the same thing even if it is like helpdesk.domain1.com and helpdesk.domain2.com and helpdesk.domain3.com with the same staff etc.

Sorry... for us, kayako is not going to work. I will even fight for the refund and go to different solution. I already found few.

This kind of thing would be easy to do in V4 as it will support staff LoginShare so you can have a database of staff and it automatically allows them entry to each one.

Just wondering if someone has found a solution for this, aside from doing a search and replace on all the templates for a group and hard coding the URL....

Damn... I am busy implementing kayako (bought it 2 years ago but never had the time before).

Our situation: 2 domains now and another 2 in the next few months.
What I want:
support.domain1.com
support.domain2.com
support.domain3.com
support.domain4.com

And only ONE installation. I created the templates for it and, since I have not bought the extra domains yet, created htaccess files at the support.domainx.com to redirect and include the group in it. That works and I was thinking about buying the extra domains so that the domainname would stay visible in the URL instead of the group option. But I understand from this thread that this is not gonna work?

The group option works but the group= is not added automaticly to all links. So if the session will timeout the default group will be shown. Isn't there a way to automaticly add the group= to every link in the product ? That would solve my problem for now.

If someone has a succesful implementation on this issue please let me know...

The above is untested, but should redirect any call to the root domain to instead deliver the ?group information.
Thanks for the starting point, I gave this a try but unfortunately it didn't work. After a bit of playing however, here's the version I did get working :

Code:
RewriteEngine on

RewriteCond %{HTTP_HOST} ^support\.blah1\.co\.uk [NC]
RewriteRule ^(.*) $1?group=blah1 [QSA,L,NS]

RewriteCond %{HTTP_HOST} ^support\.blah2\.com [NC]
RewriteRule ^(.*) $1?group=blah2 [QSA,L,NS]
