new install, doesn't seem to do anything? - 19-12-2005, 03:26 PM

I've been tasked with getting the esupport helpdesk software running for our company and I seem to be having some issues regarding the installation.

The server is a windows 2003 box with SP1 and all other patches. I downloaded the esupport.3.00.28.stable.zendopen.tar.gz release, extracted and uploaded to the server. I also installed php 5.1.1 in a CGI configuration, Zend Optimizer 2.6.0, and MySQL 5.0.16.

The URL for the site is http://kayako.idss.com

I have created a phpinfo file at http://kayako.idss.com/test.php

When I try to run setup by going to http://kayako.idss.com/setup/ and clicking setup, it brings me to a blank page.

What am I doing wrong?

Thanks for any help you can give!

Hi,

I'm not sure if the problem was resolved but try installing 3.00.31, if that still gives you a blank screen you will need to downgrade PHP until Kayako find and resolve the issue with PHP 5.1.1.

Just installed 3.00.31, still a blank screen after clicking setup. Which version of PHP should I downgrade to?

I'm having the same problem. Trying setup.php just shows a blank page.

Fresh installation of SupportSuite 3.00.32 (STABLE) - 19 Dec 2005 09:19 PM

IIS 6.0
PHP 5.1.1
Zend Optimizer 2.6 (newest release that should work with PHP 5.1.1)
MySQL 5.0.17

I can load a phpinfo.php page and just also installed Joomla! which is now running with no problems.

What gives?

rkoski: Have you had any luck with this? I'd rather not downgrade my PHP version, but let me know what worked (if anything) for you...

Cheers,

No, I figured I would just wait until they fixed the bug instead of downgrading any supporting packages.

I am having the same problem with the same version of windows, php, and zend.
It was fine until i upgraded php to php 5.1.1
I also would prefer not to downgrade to an older version of php. Have Kayako found anything that will help with this yet?
The error in the log is:

[09-Jan-2006 12:55:00] PHP Parse error: parse error, unexpected '{' in E:\Shares\Websites\helpdesk.robit.co.nz\includes\S martyLight\class.template.php on line 351

Thanks

That's exactly the error message I'm receiving with error reporting turned on. I've been waiting for weeks now for this to be resolved....

Support from Kayako said they would Instant Message me on the 29th of Dec. so they could access my server to investigate... I didn't leave my desk all day so I could wait for them, but that was a big mistake. If these guys tell you they are going to do something on or by a certain date, just know that they operate differently than most of us. I've paid this company nearly $1000 in the past 3 years and they can't even honor an appointment with me. And I haven't even received a reply or apology from support since then.

I'm about ready to give up and so with someone else since I don't have a functional helpdesk.

I am having the same problem.

Is the install working for anybody? What was the final word with the version of PHP that WILL work. I have been waiting for over a week to get this installed. Not having good luck with support here.

I am willing to downgrade PHP or anything else it takes... Mainly, I just need ANY support to get this installed.

I am currently at 4.3.9. (Linux)

Definitely at the end of my rope with Kayako support.

I'm still waiting also. It's been several weeks and I've had no response from Kayako. I bought this product in July and paid for 6 months of support which has now expired and they have refused to extend the support for free.

It's such a shame, because the product is great (when it can be installed and working), but they really need to learn some lessons on running a business.

I'm ready to request a credit card refund if it can't be fixed. My boss has been asking for months now when I'd have this new version working. I have to explain to him that things seem to work differently with Kayako -- one day = one month and so forth.

Let us know if you find a version that works.

Same problem here - using Apache 2.0.1 not IIS, but also PHPO 5.1.1. and Zend 2.6.2

Pretty poor given we've just bought the product and are keen to get it working.

I had the same problem on an install this morning. After some poking around, I found a link to the manual (http://manual.kayako.net). That helped a lot. I realized that I uploaded my files in ASCII using Dreamweaver. While that is how I would normally upload my normal site files, the manual indicates that the files MUST be uploaded using BINARY format. I deleted all of the files and uploaded in BINARY format and that solved my blank screen problem. The installation was complete within minuntes after that...now on to the setup.

Good luck.

Thanks for the response hostingspot ... however, the issue I had was definately a PHP5.1.1 related issue. I downgraded PHP to php4.4.2 and the issue went away.
