Next problem - licensing and domain names.. - 18-06-2008, 11:11 AM

Okay, new question. I host all my own web pages - i have a basic setup, no fancy routers or anything - just inside (my LAN) and outside (the ISP/internet).

Now, I have bought this product as a way of interacting with present and future customers. So I can see on a hosted solution, this would work out of the box for both the agents and the customers as we'd both be logging in over the 'net onto a hosted machine somewhere.

However - as a small business, hosting the site internally, how do I build the installation so as to offer it to both outside customers (via mycompany.com) and internally (via http://servername) at the same time. I've had kayako add localhost to my license key.php but it still warns me when logging on on the localhost machine that my license is not correct.

Few problems here - any answers?

Hi dmad,

Did you replace your key.php file once it was updated?

No i hadn't. My bad. One thing I don't quite understand - when you first run the setup, it asks you to enter the hostname. How because i'm running it from http://localhost/ - the setup picks that up and puts it in there. So i left it do it and everything is fine. However i keep getting that warning.

If i put in the proper company domain name (New Threats - Home) then once the setup is complete it keeps wanting me to logon to my gateway because obviously that web address is unobtainable internally (my DNS sends it to the internet, the internet sends it to the gateway).

So what is the purpose of this URL box in the setup and what should I put in there?
