Registeration Emails not going out on new install - 06-08-2007, 08:46 PM

Hi all,

I have finally (with the help of those of this forum) got Supportsuite up and running. I am now trying to learn everyting about it and get things setup and ready to go live for my clients. I have run into an issue which I can't seem to find an answer. When I register as a new user I never get the email to validate the account.
I do have the enable manual verification set to no. I have gone in and enabled SMTP under the server settings in supportsuite. The server that supportsuite is on is a standalone server not on our network and we are using a POP email account for the support account. Any help would be appreciated. If you need more info please let me know.

Are you talking about registering them inside the staff control panel? If so, I think this skips validation as it assumes you have already validated them.

Thanks for the reply Craig. I may have confused things a little. Right now for testing purposes, when I go to our support site and click Register and go through registering myself as if I were a client I never recieve the validation email. I even logged into the staff side and tried manually resending the email. I have also created a ticket and replied to the ticket. I setup a rule sending an email to staff members when ticket information changes. No of the emails are getting out. I am sure it has to do with setup, however I can't figure it out (probably something easy).

If you look at the users account (that you created via registering) is the account "verified"
(yellow/orange not grey?)

1) Ticket search in the client portal!
2) Column display in client portal showing clients email address or name
3) Downloads by client
(i.e. - each client has their own download area and can't see/touch downloads for any other client.) This would be on top of a "public" download area.
4) Integrated KB image uploads
The ability for staff to upload images with a KB articles.

Thanks for the reply.
No, the account is not verified. I know that I can manually go and verify it. However, this isn't the only email that is not going out. I have setup a rule for tickets to email me when a new ticket is created and when it is changed and assigned. When doing any of those things I never get an email.
I am not sure what I am doing wrong. I still think it has to do with setup of the smtp server on how email gets sent out.

Here is a little more info about our setup:

SupportSuite is installed on a server in my office connected with it's own WAN. It is a Windows 2003 server with nothing installed on it other than what is needed to run SupportSuite using IIS 6.0

The email account is a hosted account through our hosting company. So it needs to utilize the POP and SMTP settings.

Again, I tried to follow the manual and set things up but I must be doing something wrong. Any ideas?

Quick Update. After a little more playing around I found part of the manual that was printed by the guy that started this was missing some of the email parser installation pages. I didn't have the part about editing the php.ini file and allowing the php_imap.dll as an extension. Once I did this it started working.
