Testing a release

If I have my URL setup as "www.mydomain.com", can I install a new version of the software into "www.mydomain.com/TEST/" so I can test the new software?

This would be to avoid downtime on my live helpdesk at "www.mydomain.com" and to ensure my boss that the helpdesk works fine after upgrade.

Is there not going to be an issue with my key.php?

Or do I have to upgrade "www.mydomain.com" and test there?

Yes, this works fine. As long as the domains match, it will allow it.
