Upgrading .80 to .90 fails

I've tried it a number of times and each time it fails...
- seems to complete step one but then redirects to a 404 page.
- if I try again then it tells me the current version is .90 ??

If I try to access it when it thinks it's on version .90 then I get an error about not being able to resend the headers as the headers have already been sent. The files it blames are encoding so no chance of spotting the issue.

Anyone else seen this ??

Does it immediately take you to the 404 or it takes sometime (as if the script times out)?

It seems to go pretty quickly to the 404 page (a few seconds, maybe 5 or 10)

I think it IS getting part way through the upgrade process because when I try it again it tells me the current version is .90 (I guess it updated a DB record somewhere ??)

What is your PHP's max_execution_time set as?

It is set to 300 - and the script is trashing out well before that time (fails after about 8 seconds)
