Upgrading from leased to owned - need advice - 23-07-2008, 01:19 AM

Hi-

We decided to go from a leased to owned license. I want to replace the installation with files that I can actually edit. The problem is, last time I upgraded, I lost all of my phrases even though I thought they were backed up. I don't want to go through that again.

Can someone direct me how to back the phrases up and how to reinstall the files that I can modify?" What build should I use? I am currently using 3.11.02.

Thanks

You want to upgrade Kayako software build or just change the license from leased to owned?

If your wanting to stay on the same version, after you have upgraded, go into the members area and go onto the Builds tab and download the same version as your currently on. Next, go back to the home page and download the key. Upload everything other than the /config/ folder including the key to your current install and thats it. You don't need to run the upgrader as nothing has changed.

Yes, that's what I want to do. I think my current build is ok. I just want to be able to edit the files which you can't do in the leased version. So overwriting these files (except for the config folder) will not cause me to redo all of the phrases, correct?

If you have edited any locale files then you need to make sure you do not re-upload the locale directory files as well.

Oh yes. I assumed he was talking about client end phrases.
