Upgrading Tips

I'm currently using v3.00.27 (owned) of SupportSuite with no real issues of note.

I would like to upgrade soon to a more recent version (NOT an UNSTABLE release, btw!) but am concerned with the myriad of problems people have been reporting on the forums.

In short, I'd like all the forum contributors to put some tips in this thread about how to backup an existing version (db + files) as well as restoring previously backed up db + files.

That way, we can quickly rollback to our v3.00.27 if we have issues with our v3.xxx version.

Anyone?

It might even be worth someone forming a sticky for this...

I am having issues upgrading from 3.00.80 to 3.00.90. What I did (seemed to work ok) was to use the MySql Administration Console to make a backup of the database and then I zipped up the esupport directory.

I was able to restore the database using the MySql Administration Console and then I used the zip file to replace the esupport directory. Just needed to delete the setup directory, I was running normally again on 3.00.80. I don't know if that was the best method, but it worked for us.
