Thumbs up email piping using directadmin/pop3 - 11-03-2006, 07:24 PM

We can use piping facility after enabling fetch mails from pop3 server.

Just a easy thing create a user with any name and create alias in /etc/aliases
like the following
support: “|/full/path/to/cli/index.php”

and give a fetchmail deamon to check mails within every 5 mins.
create fetchmail config file in support (user) home dir.
fetchmail configuration file
$HOME/.fetchmailrc
poll <mail server>
with protocol pop3
username <mail server user name> password <passwd plain text> is <local user support>

give fetchmail as deamon like

fetchmail -d 300 <mailserverIP/name> #300 is check every 5 mins.

Any doubt about above things come to me

thaxs

Yes, I've done installs on a couple of machines running DirectAdmin on CentOs 4.2.

If you want to use piping, you will have to comment out some lines in your Exim config file that will create duplicate tickets. I've posted another thread for someone else with the exact lines a couple of weeks ago. Do a search for EXIM and you should be able to find it.

You can add the piped mailbox directly from user mode on a domain from within DirectAdmin. You create the mail alias and then put the path to the file you want to pipe into in the box for the destination address.

If you want to use POP3 and/or IMAP, you will need to recompile PHP to include php-imap support. There are instructions on the DirectAdmin forum on how to recomiple PHP on their forum.

You will also want to install Zend machine. There are instructions on installing Zend on the DirectAdmin forums as well.

I think those are the only three things I've had to do on a stock DirectAdmin box. After you get those three things done, post back if you still have trouble and we'll go from there.
