How to using parsing? - 26-05-2008, 01:56 AM

I used to have the hosted version, so now have no idea what to do regarding email. I don't have cpanel or plesk, I use Dreamhost.com. Does anyone know if that host has these two platforms? All I can do is change the MX files or create forwards, new accounts. I thought about doing POP3 or IMAP but was told not very reliable. Any suggestions?

POP and IMAP fetch are very reliable. Setup the appropriate mailboxes inside your control panel, follow the manual to setup mail queues and then ask Kayako support to set you up a cron.

I have SupportSuite Owned like you do. I set-up a regular IMAP email acct through my host, then I went to Admin CP »Mail Parser » E-mail Queues » Insert E-mail Queue and added all of the info. Is that all? As an Owned user, do I need to set-up a Cron myself? Thx

Yes, setup the cron yourself if you are using an owned license.

Craig can you help guide me? I went to Crontab - DreamHost and have no idea how to even begin this process. I'm sure it is quite annoying to walk someone thru it, but any guideline/direction, I am 100% lost. Thx mate.

Code:
wget -O/dev/null http://www.mydomain.com/support_install/cron/index.php
The above should be the command run and :-
Code:
5 * * * *
should be the interval.

Is it gttp: or http:? I also don't have a support_install directory, my path is domain.com/support/cron/index.php Does that matter?

Also the command seems to be the normal one, but it says they don't allow those here Crontab - DreamHost

And here is what I see, when I go to create a Cron job Crontab - DreamHost

http sorry and no, it doesn't matter. Its the full url to the /cron/ directory.

Maybe look into a service like HostedCron - Your Crontab Headquarters [ ] if your host isn't setting up crons well.

I don't want to pay another service, so I need to make this work. I meant I don't have "support_install" that folder on my site, my path to cron is domain.com/support/cron/index.php So I should go with that, correct?

Yes, go with that path.

And the above service is free, by the way.

I may just change hosts, my host is giving me grief. Here is what they said:

Quote:
I ran your script from the command line, and got the following result:
[tofu]$ /usr/local/bin/php
/home/user/domain.com/support/cron/index.php

Warning: main(./swift.php): failed to open stream: No such file or
directory in
/home/.sabastian/user/domain.com/support/cron/index.php
on line 22

Fatal error: main(): Failed opening required './swift.php'
(include_path='.:/usr/local/lib/php') in
/home/.sabastian/user/domain.com/support/cron/index.php
on line 22

So what I did was comment out a couple lines in /support/cron/index.php -
for some reason it wasn't changing to the correct directory, despite
SWIFTCUSTOMPATH not being defined anywhere that I could find it (who
knows).

Now when I run that script it prints out a small amount of gibberish, and
no errors. I guess it's working - if it's still not working it's
something that you'll have to figure out and fix on your own - Dreamhost
technical support is really only for fixing server related problems, or
problems with software that we provide.
Also do you have any idea what the index.php file in cron folder should be? I have it at 755, is that correct?
