smtp doesn't work - 31-08-2007, 06:10 AM

I've been going through all the posts regarding smtp problems on the site but i can't seem to find anything that fix my problem....

i am running esupport ver 3.04.10 and everything was fine until it stopped sending mail, nothing is getting out?

my machine is a debian linux and when i set up a mail client on the server
i have no problems sending mail through my smtp server which is on another server. i use the same credentials as i use in kayako. so it can't be a problem whith the mail server. is there some way to log outgoing smtp request from kayako. the parser log only shows incoming mail.

Hi Midas,

It really is more likely that something has changed regarding your environment server or SMTP server - are you sure you have not made any changes to SupportSuite?

Try upgrading to the latest stable (3.11.01) to see if that fixes the issue.

the problem is that i can't find any erorr message at all, maybe i'm looking at the wrong places but...

my syslog from /var/log/syslog

Aug 31 12:42:01 localhost /USR/SBIN/CRON[29028]: (root) CMD (wget -q -a /var/log/cron.log "https://kayako.vindeln.se/esupport/cron/index.php?_t=parser")

i would realy wan't to see an error message or something that indicates the error. could it be that i'm running ssl on port 443 or...

What have you got your SMTP details set as (Admin CP -> Settings -> CPU Optimization & Server)?

Host, Port and Use Auth is what I would like to know.

my smtp settings is set as

smtphost [smtpservername].vindeln.se
port 25
use smtp authentication yes
username [username]
password [password]

i've tried with pre2000domainname/username
and username@vindeln.se but no luck

since i'm using exchange 2007 and my ad tree is set to 2003 mode i think it should be username@vindeln.se

but no luck

I think the best thing to do would be to submit a ticket (http://members.kayako.net -> "Get Support" so one of the tech support guys can investigate the issue on your installation. There is not much more we can do here without seeing your install.

problem solved - 05-09-2007, 11:37 AM

i changed my smtp settings to connect to another server then exchange 2007
and now it works.

thank you for your efforts in helping me solve this problem.
still don't know why i could send mail from mail client installed in the graphical environment but not from kayako using the same credentials... but i consider this one solved.

regards

Midas
