Yet another piping problem - 04-11-2007, 04:07 AM

I just moved supportsite to a new server. I have everything working, but am having problems with piping (shocking huh?). Anyway, it worked on the old server, new server is Red Hat, permissions on /cli/index.html are 755. Am using SMRSH methodolody.

Created the link ok in /etc/smrsh (index.php)

Created the alias as
test: |/etc/smrsh/index.php

No control panel on this server except webmin, when I view this alias via webmin and then try to save it I get the error:

Failed to save alias : '/etc/smrsh/index.php' is not a valid program or does not exist

Wierd. Since I edited the alias file manually and ran newaliases I tried to send an email to pipe. The email bounces with the message:

----- The following addresses had permanent fatal errors -----
"|/etc/smrsh/index.php"
(reason: Service unavailable)
(expanded from: <test@domain.org>)

----- Transcript of session follows -----
451 4.0.0 putbody: write error: Broken pipe
smrsh: "index.php" not available for sendmail programs (stat failed)
554 5.0.0 Service unavailable

Just to be different I changed the alias from:

test: |/etc/smrsh/index.php

to

test: /etc/smrsh/index.php (removed the |)

rebuilt new aliases, sent email, then I received the email bounce with this error:

----- The following addresses had permanent fatal errors -----
/etc/smrsh/index.php
(reason: Can't create output)
(expanded from: <test@domain.org>)

----- Transcript of session follows -----
550 5.0.0 /etc/smrsh/index.php... Can't create output

I also tried putting the alias in quotes and not in quotes, with no difference.

I am stumped, can anyone make any suggestions?

Thanks,

keith

Here is some further info. After some experimentation emails are now bouncing back with this error...

----- The following addresses had permanent fatal errors -----
"|/usr/bin/php /etc/smrsh/index.php"
(reason: Service unavailable)
(expanded from: <test@domain.com>)

----- Transcript of session follows -----
smrsh: "php" not available for sendmail programs (stat failed)
554 5.0.0 Service unavailable

We are also experiencing these php errors:

[root@server smrsh]# /usr/bin/php /etc/smrsh/index.php
PHP Notice: Undefined offset: 1 in /www/domain/www/support/cli/index.php on line 24
PHP Notice: Undefined offset: 1 in /www/domain/www/support/cli/index.php on line 48

This looked similar to the problems described in:

http://forums.kayako.com/showthread....defined+offset

Made those changes in php.ini with no change.

Any ideas are appreciated.

Thanks,

Keith

Here's your problem right there
this thread might help you get started in fixing that (make sure that the paths are added to the right place).

No. Piping is an OS feature.
