Parser Lock File Notification

This morning I was stunned to find an empty parser log and no new tickets. Straight away I was onto Kayako support and they informed me that the following had occured:

Manpreet Singh: Basically the Lock file found error causes when cron on server is running and it is not finish the circle yet. The lock file has been found preventing further execution and mostly it will be deleted after finish the job. You have to wait for some time and if it still showing you the same error so you have to delete it manually as somehow it could not be deleted itself.

Manpreet Singh: You can check it by manually running the parser :http://<server>/cron/index.php?_t=parser , if the lock file is created then this will tell you and also give you the link to delete that file

So besides the fact that this "lock" should not really happen in the first place, there should be a way of alerting the admin to the fact that such a lock exists and is hanging the parser.

Hi there,

The lock file will automatically expire in the 3.20.03 build; Kayako Bug Tracker - Viewing Issue #463 - parser.lock file should automatically expire

Unfortunately this parser lock file problem occured again this morning. Is the admin link to delete it available in 20.2 stable or only in the .3 version?

It is only available in 3.20.03.
