Not to replace a dedicated stats program but if you're monitoring visitor activity why not generate some reports. Tell me the max users in a day, average users over a period, etc.
We have had this request come up before. For now we feel that it is beyond the scope of the helpdesk (while there are plenty of packages which can do retrospective visitor reporting, like Google Analytics, far better than we would realistically be able to), so we're sticking to the real-time aspect of visitor monitoring and tracking.
With that goal in mind, make it super easy to add Google Analytics with an option in Admin CP to enable it and add your ID.
